| Title: | Assistant Baseball Coach |
John Toney enters his first season with Carl Albert State College Baseball, bringing a
proven track record of player development, competitiveness, and a relentless passion
for the game. Toney began his coaching career at Shiloh Christian High School as the
pitching coach, where he quickly made an impact. His staff anchored a 29–5 season
that included a 24-game winning streak and a trip to the Arkansas state semifinals—the
program’s first appearance in six years. Under his guidance, Shiloh’s top two starters
combined for a perfect 20–0 record with sub-2.50 ERAs. Toney also oversaw significant
velocity gains across his staff, with some pitchers seeing as much as a 7 mph jump in
just six months of development.
A former pitcher at the University of Arkansas–Fort Smith, Toney has carried his playing
experience into a coaching career defined by intensity, energy, and a deep commitment
to growth. His training background includes work with Tread Athletics, one of the
nation’s leaders in pitcher development, which sharpened his approach to mechanics,
velocity, and arm care. Known for his ability to blend technical pitching knowledge with
motivational coaching, Toney is dedicated to helping his players maximize their potential
on and off the field.
